The Open and Novice are run at the same time.

The course may be walked on Friday  April 11th between 2 and 7pm.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS APPLYING TO ALL PARTICIPANTS AND 

SPECTATORS AT THE FAIR OAK CROSS COUNTRY FUN DAY CLEAR 

ROUND AT THE FAIR OAK COURSE ON SATURDAY 12th APRIL 2008

The Officials and Secretaries decision in all matters is final.

Save for death or personal injury caused by the negligence of the organisers or anyone for whom they are

in law responsible, neither the organisers, nor Fair Oak, nor any employee nor any person acting on their 

behalf, accept any liability for any loss, damage, accident, injury or illness to horses, owners, riders, spectators 

or any other persons or cars and contents or property whatsoever, whether caused by their negligence, 

breach of contract or in any other way whatsoever.

 

The owners of Fair Oak have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the Health and Safety of everyone 

who uses the course. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take reasonable precautions to 

avoid and prevent accidents occurring, and must obey the rules.

 

The owners of Fair Oak reserve the right to cancel all or any part of this event including at short notice if 

in their opinion the weather is or has affected the going of the course to such an extent that excessive 

damage may occur to the ground or that the conditions represent an unacceptable level of danger for riders 

and horses, or could prevent medical assistance reaching any part of the course or for any other health and safety reason.

Such cancellation can take place without any liability for loss or damages from any participants of the event

against the owners of Fair Oak.

 

Hats - BSI Kite marked PAS 015 or BS EN 1384 must be worn at all times when mounted, with the chinstrap 

fastened. An effective body protector must be worn by all riders.

 

A charge of £20 per horse/pony per round will be made. A Rosette will be given to every rider who completes 

the round without penalties.

 

Horse jumping can be dangerous. The jumps are of a variety of heights and difficulty, do not exceed your 

abilities. Particular care must be taken if the course is damp or wet.

 

If eliminated for a first time during the cross country, competitors may complete the course, but must make way for any 

following horse and the rider must obey any instructions or orders from the officials. If the competitor has 

a second elimination they may in the safety interests of other participants be asked to stop and must return to 

their vehicles at a walk, no refund will be made in this instance.

 

The Organisers and the owners of Fair Oak reserve the right to refuse any entry without giving a reason.

 

All horse boxes and trailers must tern left when leaving Fair Oak and go out through South Harting.

 

The course can be walked by competitors the day before after 2pm but must end by 7pm but we are afraid dogs are 

no longer permitted.

 

 

PROCEDURE FOR CLEAR ROUND.

 

We will be running the various classes as per the time schedule, please note that the Novice and Open Classes go at the same time.

 

To enter purchase a ticket at £20 per round from the Secretaries tent, go down to the starter and have the number of the cloakroom ticket put up on the board. You must also sign a disclaimer notice at the Secretaries tent.

 

The starter will as far as possible go in order of this board, please make sure that you allow time for a tack check before your number is called.

 

If eliminated during the cross country, competitors may complete the course, but must make way for any following horse and the rider must obey any instructions or orders from the officials.  It is possible that you will be asked to go to the next fence if you fail at a fence, in order to avoid a log jam and to comply with our Health and Safety rules, you must obey this instruction.

 

If the competitor has a second elimination they may in the interests of safety for other participants and spectators be asked to stop and must return to their vehicles at a walk.

 

If you catch up with a horse in front you must only overtake between fences after clearly indicating to the rider in front and having had an acknowledgement back that you wish to overtake. Under no circumstances can you jump a fence at the same time or very close to another rider.

 

No unnumbered fences can be jumped under any circumstances, you will be immediately asked to leave the course if you do.

 

After completing your round and if you go clear then you can return to the starter for a Rosette.

 

If you wish to go round again you may do so provided your horse is fit enough, you will need to purchase another ticket from the Secretaries Tent.

 

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THIS IS A FUN DAY AND NOT A RACE, BE CONSIDERATE  TO OTHER RIDERS AND MAKE SURE THAT AT ALL TIMES TO BE SAFE AND DO NOT ENDANGER OTHER RIDERS OR SPECTATORS.

 

REMEMBER YOU MUST TURN LEFT WHEN LEAVING THE EVENT.
